Eating healthily doesn’t have to cost a lot

A client and I were having a discussion about nutrition. She told me that she wants to start eating healthy but that it’s too expensive.

This seems to be a widespread belief that most people have and I’m here to tell you that eating healthily doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.

In fact, eating healthy can actually save you money.

But first what is eating healthily?

To eat healthily means following a healthy eating pattern that includes a variety of nutritious foods and drinks. It also means getting the number of calories that’s right for you (not eating too much or too little).

A healthy diet is essential for good health. It protects you against many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugars, saturated and trans-fats, & making sure we also get in our vitamins & minerals by taking multi-vitamins, Calcium/Magnesium, & Omega 3’s, etc. are essential for a healthy diet.

How do we save money by eating healthily?

We can save so much money every month by not purchasing overpriced junk foods such as chips, pop, candy, chocolate and avoiding fast-food restaurants, consuming less alcohol, and drinking mainly water. Literally, hundreds of dollars a month saved.

My personal grocery list consists of Cartons of eggs, Steel-cut Oatmeal, Rolled Oats, Almond Milk, Frozen Mixed Berries & Strawberries, Anti-biotic free chicken breasts, 10lb bag of rice, Spinach, Asparagus, Whole-grain Bread, Natural Peanut Butter, Greek Yogurt, Extra Virgin Olive oil, Bananas, Extra Lean ground beef/turkey, whole wheat noodles, Butter, pasta sauce, Coffee pods, & Keto coffee syrup. I also take a greens supplement daily which is $40 every other month.
